Parliament is set to reconvene on Tuesday, May 27, for its second meeting of the year. A notice signed by the Speaker Alban Bagbin, said the session will focus on reviewing government bills, policy statements, and committee reports.
The Speaker’s summons is in line with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of the Parliament.
Issues expected to be discussed in Parliament when Members of the House resumes:
-Economic Recovery: MPs will likely debate and discuss strategies for improving Ghana’s economic situation, including budget allocations, fiscal policies, and initiatives to stimulate growth.
– Energy Policy: With energy being a critical sector, parliamentarians may discuss matters related to energy production, distribution, and pricing, as well as exploring alternative energy sources.
– Public Sector Accountability: There may be discussions on how to improve transparency and accountability within the public sector, including measures to prevent corruption and ensure efficient use of public resources.
– Legislative Bills: The continuation of unfinished business from the previous sitting may involve the consideration of key legislative bills that are yet to be passed into law.
– Committee Reports: MPs will likely review and discuss reports from various parliamentary committees, providing oversight and guidance on implementation.
– Policy Discussions: Other policy areas, such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social welfare, may also be on the agenda for discussion and debate.
