On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we spotlight one of today’s fastest-growing threats: online violence against women and girls — a form of abuse that silences voices, restricts participation and targets those who speak up, including journalists and young users.
Online harassment is pushing women and girls out of digital spaces, affecting their safety, confidence and ability to participate fully in public life.
UNESCO works with governments, educators and digital platforms to strengthen protections, promote digital literacy and ensure safer online environments for all.
Ending violence against women — offline and online — requires sustained, collective action.
