The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has clarified that the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was officially informed of the postponement of her disciplinary hearing.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews on Monday, April 7, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed, said the party followed due process in communicating the postponement of the disciplinary hearing to Adwoa Safo.
“I can confirm that a letter was delivered to her regarding the postponement. I personally received her at the party headquarters today because we were holding a separate meeting on electoral matters from the 2024 general elections. While there, I heard some noise outside and went to find out what was happening. It turned out she had come in response to the earlier invitation,” he stated.
Meanwhile, according to Joy News, some supporters of Adwoa Safo, former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, stormed the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra on Monday, 7 April, ahead of her expected appearance before the party’s disciplinary committee.
The decision comes after her comments on JoyNews’ The Pulse show, which the party leadership viewed as a direct contravention of an earlier directive prohibiting members from discussing matters that could create disaffection and unrest within the party.
The move forms part of a broader inquiry into the implications of her statements and their potential impact on the party’s public image.
The former MP was set to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee following remarks, she made in the media concerning the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
A notice, jointly signed by Patrick Boamah, Secretary to the Disciplinary Committee, and William Yamoah, Director of Finance and Administration, was issued on 24th March 2025.
Adwoa Safo is out of Parliament because she lost her constituency NPP primary to Mike Oquaye Jnr after years of controversy brought on by her leave of absence in the US and her eventual sacking from the gender minister portfolio and demotion in Parliament.
