The Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) of the party, chaired by former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, released the list of centres in a statement.

The statement said the list of the approved voting centres across the 16 regions for the presidential primary had been given to all the five flag bearer hopefuls of the party contesting the election.

In the statement, the PEC expressed its appreciation to all presidential candidates, their representatives and stakeholders for their cooperation.

It assured the flag bearer aspirants and all stakeholders of a credible and transparent electoral process towards the election of the party’s flag bearer for the 2028 general election.

Flag bearer hopefuls

Meanwhile, the flag bearer hopefuls: Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central; Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the NPP; Dr Bryan Acheampong, a former Minister of Food and Agriculture; Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, a former Vice-President, and Dr Yaw Adu Twum, a former Minister of Education, have intensified in-person, traditional and social media campaigns to win the votes of the delegates of the party with barely a month to the election.

The NPP at its National Delegates Conference in July, this year, amended the party’s constitution to expand the electoral college of the party, which now covers former constituency, regional and national executives, former Members of Parliament (MPs) and former MMDCEs, who would vote in the January 31, 2026 presidential primary to elect the party’s flag bearer for the 2028 general election.

Over 200, 000 delegates will vote in the election, which the PEC, in an earlier engagement with the party’s presidential candidates, has said only delegates physically present at polling centres would be allowed to cast their ballots.

That meant no proxy voting would be allowed in the election.

Proxy voting is an arrangement that allows a registered voter to authorize another person to vote on their behalf when they are unable to be physically present.
