Peace Council engages in Krachi West.
This marks the 6th and final district engagement for the first quarter of 2026, aimed at promoting non-violence, strengthening social cohesion, and ensuring the active inclusion of youth, women, and traditional leaders in peace-building processes.
The engagement took place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kete-Krachi and brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from the Muslim Council, Local Council of Churches, Krachi Youth Association, Konkomba Youth Association, traditional authorities, religious leaders, women groups, and local government representatives.
Discussions focused on:
Strengthening early warning systems for conflict prevention
Promoting interfaith and inter-ethnic tolerance
Addressing misinformation and its impact on peace
 Enhancing youth participation in peacebuilding
Chairman of the Oti Regional Peace Council, Mr. Peterkin Gyinae, emphasized the need for continuous engagement, noting that peace is sustained through proactive dialogue, even in times of calm.
Youth leaders called for more structured platforms for dialogue and mentorship, while faith-based organizations highlighted their role in promoting peaceful coexistence and mediating conflicts at the community level.
Traditional authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to addressing local challenges such as chieftaincy and land disputes, while promoting peace education within communities.
