The Ministry of Health has announced the successful processing of salaries for 321 Pharmacist House Officers who completed their horsemanship in 2024, marking a significant move toward resolving salary arrears in Ghana’s health sector.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the Ministry acknowledged growing concerns over delayed payments for the 2024 batch of Rotation Nurses and Allied Health Interns, who began their rotations in May 2024 and completed them in May 2025 but are yet to receive their salaries.
The Ministry attributed the delay to the inability of the previous administration to secure the necessary financial clearance prior to the commencement of these rotations.
“We are actively working with the relevant government agencies to prioritize and expedite the clearance process to ensure the timely disbursement of all outstanding salaries,” the statement said.
This latest development forms part of a broader effort by the Ministry to address long-standing salary arrears affecting various health worker categories. Officials say the aim is to ensure that every qualified health professional is adequately supported in their roles delivering essential healthcare services across the country.
The Ministry further reassured affected Rotation Nurses and Allied Health Interns that their concerns are being treated with urgency, and steps are being taken to develop a more sustainable system to prevent such delays in the future.
