Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Ketu South, Edem Agbana among delegation to Japan
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Ketu South, Edem Agbana among others are part of a high-powered delegation from Ghana’s Ministry of Education currently on a working visit to Japan.
This strategic mission is focused on engaging key stakeholders in education and gaining valuable insights into Japan’s renowned educational system, with particular emphasis on STEM, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Special Needs Education.
Earlier this week, the leader of our delegation, Haruna Iddrisu, signed a series of landmark partnership agreements with the Government of Japan, as well as with Life is Tech, a pioneering educational technology start-up. This collaboration will see Life Is Tech commences pilot operations in Ghana by September, with the goal of expanding digital literacy access to millions of students across all levels of our educational system.
The delegation also includes the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs Mamle Andrews, the Director-General of NaCCA, Prof Oboubisah Bekoe, and the Head of Policy Planning, Mr Inusah, each of whom brings immense expertise to this national assignment.
Ghana’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mrs Genevieve Edna Apaloo, and her team have been excellent in hosting the team and played a vital role in making this working visit a successful one.
Their commitment and professionalism have ensured that our engagements here have been fruitful and productive.
As a member of Parliament’s Select Committee on Education, Mr. Agbana said he is ”encouraged by the strategic steps being taken by President Mahama’s government to transform education”.
”These partnerships are foundational to the bold reforms we envision”, he wrote. adding that the government is more inspired, and even more committed, to carrying forward the knowledge, innovation, and partnerships in building and shaping the future of education in Ghana.
