Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang says providing a supportive environment is critical for everyone to thrive without limitations.
In an address, to mark International Women’s Day, she acknowledged the vital role women play, as the backbone of families, communities, and the national economy. Prof.Opoku-Agyemang called for continuous efforts to foster innovation, nurture growth, and shape Ghana’s future.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8 to honor women’s achievements, advocate for gender equality, and recognize women’s contributions to society. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Accelerate Action.” This highlights the urgency of breaking down systemic barriers and biases that hinder gender equality, urging swift and decisive efforts across all sectors.
Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering Ghanaian women, emphasizing financial support and increased representation in leadership to help more women reach their full potential.
