Indian Business Delegation visits Ghana Free Zones Authority
The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) on 17th February 2026 hosted a business delegation from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), India, at its Head Office in Accra to explore investment opportunities within Ghana’s Free Zones.
In her welcome address, the Chief Executive Officer of the GFZA, Dr. Mary Awusi, highlighted the strong historic and economic ties between Ghana and India.

She underscored Ghana’s political stability, youthful and employable population and strategic location as key factors positioning the country as an attractive investment destination in Africa. She further emphasized that Ghana’s Free Zones Scheme is particularly well suited to export-oriented investments, given the range of incentives it offers to enhance global competitiveness.
Ms. Anita Novi Quashie, Director of Marketing and Investment Promotion at GFZA, gave a presentation on the Free Zones Scheme, outlining investment opportunities, priority sectors, relevant trade agreements and the GFZA’s incentive framework.
Presentations and remarks were also made by some key government institution including the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ghana Gold Board and a representative from the Ministry of Health. The presentations highlighted regulatory frameworks, investment facilitation, and the broader business environment in Ghana.
The SGCCI delegation, made up of representatives from various sectors including Textiles and Apparel, Agro-processing, Manufacturing, Services, and jewellery, was led by Mr. Ashok Jirawala, Vice President of SGCCI. Mr. Jirawala and his team expressed their satisfaction with the presentations and the interactive session with the government stakeholders present. They also indicated their interest in exploring long-term partnerships in Ghana.
In attendance were the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, Mr. Rodrick Daddey Adjei, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations) of the GFZA, Mr. Lateef Apau Wiredu, as well as Directors and Heads of Department of the GFZA.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing strong interest in deepening collaboration to strengthen investment partnerships between Ghana and India and ended with an exchange of gifts as a symbol of goodwill.
