The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) was unable to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today as required by its constitution due to a lack of quorum. According to Article 34 of the GJA constitution, at least 10 percent of all members in good standing must be present for the meeting to proceed. However, this requirement was not met, leading to the cancellation of the meeting.
Addressing members present at the cancelled meeting, GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour expressed concern over the low turnout and urged members to take the AGM more seriously.
He further acknowledged the constitutional requirement for a quorum and assured members that efforts would be made to convene an emergency meeting before the end of his tenure. He said the leadership will make a conscious effort to hold the AGM before their tenure ends.
