Ghana 's Ambassador to Japan Kojo Choi in Fugu with President John Mahama
My Ghanaian hometown is Bolgatanga, especially Bongo. As a child, I followed my father to Bongo, built values that shaped who I am today.
Fugu made here is not just clothing. It is art, life, and identity.
At the very moment Ghana declared independence, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah wore Fugu.
Today, Our great President John Dramani Mahama proudly wears Fugu at the UN General Assembly, and recently during his visit to Zambia show casing our culture.
When my appointment as Ghana’s Ambassador to Korea was announced, the Naba of Boko village in Bongo District paid me a surprise visit.
He presented me with Fugu woven in the colors of Ghana .
Wearing that very Fugu, I received my ambassadorial appointment.
Last week, Korea’s most respected MC, Yoo Jae-suk, invited our family to Korea’s most popular TV program, You Quiz on the Block.
My children went wearing Fugu.
We danced just the way our President Mahama danced.
Wednesday this week on TV, millions of Koreans will experience Ghana, not through politics or news, but through culture, joy, and dignity.
Many Koreans told me:
“Through you, Ghana feels closer to us.” This is the power of Ghana’s Colorful Culture.
It travels.
It speaks.
It connects.
Bolga to the World.
Fugu to the World.
It’s once again, our great nation,
Ghana to the World
