For years, we have witnessed incredible global progress driven by regional blocs across the world – from the European Union to the G20 and the World Economic Forum. Even closer to home, Africa has seen the rise of institutions such as the African Union, ECOWAS and BRICS, all shaping global and continental agendas.
It is within this context that the launch of the Accra Reset Secretariat – the brainchild of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and strongly supported by President Olusegun Obasanjo – is a clear demonstration of Ghana’s commitment to leading a new African renaissance. In the aftermath of the pandemic and the unprecedented crises that have challenged our continent, this initiative could not be timelier.
President Mahama’s vision for the Accra Reset is to create a modern African platform that brings together a select group of forward-thinking leaders to plan for the continent’s future. It seeks to ensure that future generations inherit a well-defined roadmap for progress, prosperity and stability.
The Accra Reset will plan, propose and develop homegrown solutions to the complex challenges facing Africa today. And importantly, this transformative initiative will be hosted right here in Ghana, with the strong support and leadership of President Mahama.
Indeed, a new chapter is beginning – one where Africa takes charge of its destiny. And Ghana, your beloved country, is at the forefront.
