Government has announced programmes for the three days of national mourning, beginning today, 7th August to Saturday, 9 August. The solemn period is dedicated to honouring the departed and providing an opportunity for national reflection and remembrance.
The activities which commenced today, began with a public laying of flowers and lighting of candles, at the Ceremonial Garden at the front of the Presidency.
This will continue through Friday, allowing further time for the public, families, and friends to express their condolences and respect.
The period of national mourning will conclude on Saturday, 9 August 2025, with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials.”
The event will take place at the Forecourt of the State House, where all Ghanaians and families will gather to reflect on the legacy and contributions of the departed.
These were contained in a statement signed by Spokesperson to the President, and Minister, Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
It said the three days of national mourning offers the nation an opportunity to collectively mourn and reflect on the profound loss.The statement urges all citizens to observe the period with dignity and respect. Details regarding the State Funeral and additional arrangements will be communicated.
