Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Muntaka says government is not interested in prosecuting foreigners engaged in fraud and illegal mining activities across the country.
He said government is rather putting in place a new policy which will see the deportation of such individuals upon their arrest. Speaking during an engagement with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Mr. Muntaka said the government is ”focused on removing foreign nationals who participate in galamsey, which has caused extensive environmental damage across the country”.
He also indicated that those ”arrested engaging in scamming and other fraudulent activities will face the same punishment”.
The Interior Minister praised the Police administration for their professionalism and called on them to take decisive action against individuals who misbehave.
