Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister for Finance, has inaugurated the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Tribunal and sworn in its first leadership.
Established under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025, the ad-hoc tribunal is mandated to hear appeals against decisions made by GoldBod, including licensing matters and rulings from the Dispute Resolution Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Forson emphasised the need for transparency and due process in the gold sector.
He said the tribunal would play a critical role in balancing regulatory oversight with fair treatment for players in the mining and minerals industry.
The minister urged the newly appointed members to uphold integrity, impartiality, and professional standards in the execution of their mandate.
Present at the event were Mr Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, members of the governing board, and other officials.
Mr Biadala Mortey Akpadzi, Chairperson of the Tribunal, together with members Hamidu Mariam and Justin Pwavra Teriwajah, took their oaths of office.
The Ghana Gold Board Tribunal serves as the designated appellate body for decisions made by GoldBod, with particular focus on licensing and dispute resolution matters.
It comprises a chairperson and two appointed members, convened on an as-needed basis.
Its primary function is to ensure a fair and transparent review process for parties affected by GoldBod rulings.
Decisions issued by the tribunal are legally binding and carry the same judicial weight as those of the High Court.
