The ECOWAS Commission is participating in the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held from 10 to 21 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil. The delegation is led by Mr. Yao Bernard Koffi, Acting Director of Environment and Natural Resources, alongside the Director of the Water Resources Management Centre and technical experts.
With support from IOM and GIZ Nigeria, ECOWAS established a regional pavilion at COP30 to showcase West Africa’s climate initiatives and engage Member States and partners on mitigation and adaptation efforts. Since opening on 12 November, the pavilion has hosted discussions on gender-responsive NDCs, climate mobility, climate research, WASCAL’s 2026-2030 strategy, and scientific approaches to managing cocoa pests and diseases.

Engagements will continue into the second week with Ghana Day, a meeting with climate negotiators, a session on water resources under the NDCs, and an event on sustainable forest management. The ECOWAS Commission remains committed to supporting Member States in addressing climate change and strengthening resilience in line with ECOWAS Vision 2050.
