Mauritania’s Dr Sidi Ould Tah, a seasoned finance & banking expert, is the AfDB Group’s new President.
A former Economy & Finance Minister, Tah, succesds Nigeria’s Akinwumi Adesina in September after serving in the same capacity at the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA).
Born in 1964, the same year the AfDB was set up, he has become the Bank’s 9th President at a critical juncture of international economic & financial volatility, compounded by the global North’s external aid cuts & tariff wars vis-à-vis Africa’s weak bargaining position.
Africa’s tough socioeconomic and environmental challenges will test Tah’s experience & financial management skills at the AfDB.
