The Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, has praised the leadership of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), particularly its Chief Director, Dr. Afisah Zakariah for her dedication, intellectual depth and commitment to excellence.
He made the remarks during the annual performance evaluation of the Chief Director. Chief Directors sign Performance Agreements with the Head of Civil Service, endorsed by their sector Ministers, and are assessed at mid-year and end-of -year.

Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh described the Ministry as focused and well-coordinated, noting that its strong administrative systems and programme results reflect the Chief Directors meticulous and disciplined leadership style.
He highlighted the effective management of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme, describing it as a vital safety net for vulnerable households. According to him, the programme’s continued credibility is driven by sound oversight and prudent resource management.

The Head of Civil Service also commended the Ministry’s efforts in child protection, particularly in tackling child marriage and human trafficking, as well as the development of the National Parenting Strategy to strengthen families and promote responsible parenting.
He further praised the establishment of the Child Care Nursery Centre at the Ministry, describing it as an innovative initiative that supports working parents and promotes work-life balance within the public service.
While acknowledging these achievements, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh stressed the need for continued financial discipline, transparency and digitalization to enhance efficiency across the Civil Service.
In conclusion, he described Dr. Afisah Zakariah as a hardworking and detail-oriented leader whose commitment continues to advance social protection, child welfare and gender equality in Ghana.
