Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has expressed her gratitude to the Chancellor Sir Sam Jonah, the Governing Council, and the entire University of Cape Coast community for conferring on her the Distinguished Fellowship Award, the first of its kind by the university.
Returning to the institution where she had her higher education, she reflected on the lasting impact of her time there.
“This campus is surrounded by seven towns, which offer a daily reminder that academia exists within a living community. Our education tasks us to go beyond theoretical knowledge and make tangible improvements in our nation,” she said.
Recounting her journey from Hall Warden of Adehye Hall to Vice Chancellor, Professor Opoku-Agyemang described the award of a Distinguished Fellow as both humbling and profoundly significant.
“We are invited, regardless of our professions or backgrounds, to be somebody else’s teacher, to guide, to advise, and uplift others. And in so doing, hold the future in trust for those who follow.”
