Day of the African Child: ECOWAS highlights Child Rights in Cabo Verde
As part of the celebrations of Children’s Day and the Day of the African Child, observed on 1 and 16 June respectively, and in line with its 2026 Activity Plan, the ECOWAS Representation in Cabo Verde carried out an awareness campaign on children’s rights and the prevention of child sexual abuse, in partnership with the Association for Disadvantaged Children (ACRIDES) and the Ministry of Education Delegation in the Municipality of Praia.
The activities took place in three schools in the city of Praia, reaching hundreds of students and educators. The first session was held on 4 June at Capelinha de Tira Chapéu Primary School, followed by an awareness session on 16 June at Achada Mato Primary School, the date on which the Day of the African Child is celebrated. The campaign concluded on 17 June with a session at São Pedro Primary School.
