Ghana is reinforcing its evidence-based approach to migration governance, ensuring inclusive contributions to the 2026 International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) and strengthening national implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) .


Ghana prepares for the 2026 International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) .
As part of this effort, the Programme “Shaping Development-Oriented Migration” (MEG), in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, Ghana, IOM Ghana, and the CSOs Coalition on Migration, convened targeted strategic workshops in Accra .
The workshops aimed to strengthen Ghana’s consultation process for the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) and contribute to the country’s Voluntary National Report ahead of the 2026 International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) .
The first workshop focused on:
→ 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Providing technical briefings, facilitating discussions on the IMRF roadmap, and showcasing success stories aligned with Ghana’s National Implementation Plan.
→ 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Bringing together government institutions, development partners, implementing agencies, and diaspora actors to strengthen coordination, align priorities, reduce duplication, and validate inputs for Ghana’s GCM implementation.
