The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has inaugurated the Catholic Men’s Association, urging members to strengthen their role in evangelisation, service, and nation building.

Most Rev Anthony Narh Asare, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, graced the ceremony, held at the St. Michael Garrison Catholic Church at 37 in Accra.

He commended the initiative and encouraged the men to stay united and extend their mission beyond their homes and parishes.

“You are called to be pillars of integrity, defenders of truth and torchbearers of evangelization.

“The church needs men of strong faith who are ready to serve selflessly, lead families in prayer and contribute actively to parish life and social transformation,” Bishop Asare said.

The ceremony was on the theme: “Faith in Action, Strengthening the Role of Catholic Men in Evangelisation and Service.”

Mr Peter Amaleboba, private legal practitioner, urged the men to embrace leadership rooted in faith, service, and integrity.

He noted that Christian leadership was about service and should be complemented with spiritual discipline, financial responsibility, and consistent service “in the family, parish, and nation.”

“Without preparation, leadership is hollow. With preparation, men become visible examples of Christ’s love and servants of God’s mission,” he said.

Mr Amaleboba emphasised fidelity, humility, and prayer as “the first act of evangelisation” and challenged men to safeguard the covenant of marriage to reduce the incidence of divorce and separation in the country.

“Let us be lights on the hill, in the kitchen, the workshop, the classroom, the office, and along the riverbank…Prepare before you preside. Serve before you speak. Build before you boast,” he noted.

Touching on work and public life, the lawyer stressed honesty, youth mentorship and creating opportunities for “dignified work” to help reduce unemployment.

He urged the church to maintain its stance against environmental destruction and continue to promote responsible care for the land and natural resources.

The Association is expected to provide a platform for men to deepen their faith, support the mission of the Church, and impact society positively.
