Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) to strengthen collaboration in the country’s automotive industry, marking a significant step in advancing green mobility and industrial growth.
The agreement, signed by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on the sidelines of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama, Japan, focuses on promoting environmentally friendly vehicles, beginning with Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). This forms part of efforts to support green mobility and reduce carbon emissions through a multi-pathway approach.
Beyond vehicle promotion, the MoU also provides for human resource development through technical training, knowledge transfer, and the potential establishment of a Toyota Academy in Ghana. The partnership will further explore initiatives aimed at expanding Ghana’s automotive market and supporting the broader industrialization agenda.
The agreement underscores Ghana’s commitment to becoming a competitive hub for automotive assembly and green innovation in Africa, while deepening trade and investment ties with Japan.
