President Mahama has deployed Ghana’s gallant soldiers from the 48 Engineers Regiment to Jamaica to assist with reconstruction efforts after the devastation of hurricane Melisa.
God bless our internationally acclaimed Ghana Armed Forces for always making Africa proud, particularly through their peacekeeping and lifesaving exploits, the Foreign Affairs Minister, Okuzeto Ablakwa wrote on Facebook.

”We are grateful to President Trump and the Government of the USA for supporting this humanitarian initiative by positively responding to Ghana’s request and providing a special aircraft to airlift our troops and the additional relief items including tents, generators, construction equipment, air conditioners and rations”, he noted.
The Minority in Parliament has heavily criticized the government’s gesture as ”misplaced.
