Dr. Abdoulie Janneh, Head of the Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) in Guinea, continues his meetings to review preparations for the presidential election of December 28, 2025.

As part of preparations for the December 28, 2025, elections, Dr. Abdoulie Janneh met on Friday, December 26, 2025, with His Excellency Dansa Kourouma, President of the National Transitional Council (CNT) of Guinea, and representatives of civil society. On Saturday, December 27, 2025, the day before the elections, he met with the heads of the election observation missions of the African Union, the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), the Mano River Union, and the group of ambassadors from ECOWAS member states accredited to Guinea.
During his discussions with the President of the CNT, Guinea’s legislative body, Dr. Janneh advocated for a transparent, free, and credible election, an essential guarantee for the acceptance of the results by the competing candidates, thus contributing to the preservation of social peace and stability in the country.
With actors from the National Council of Guinean Civil Society Organizations ( CNOSCG ), the National Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CONASOC ), the domestic election observation mission, called “Dynamique Œil du Citoyen”, the Network of Civil Society Organizations for Election Observation and Monitoring ( ROSE ) and those from the Citizen Platform for a Unified and Democratic Transition ( PCUD ), the Head of the ECOWAS EOM inquired about the conditions for preparing the observation of the presidential election by Guinean civil society.
Civil society actors say they are committed, as is ECOWAS, to assessing the impartiality, transparency and respect for democratic norms of the presidential election.
Dr. Janneh welcomed the important role of citizen oversight by civil society organizations and encouraged them to support all involved bodies and political actors to ensure that voting and results announcement operations take place under the best possible conditions.
