The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced that the 29th GJA/KGL Media Awards will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, under the distinguished patronage of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.
The event, which celebrates excellence in journalism and media practice, is themed “Safeguarding Ghana’s Future: The Role of the Media in Promoting Peace, Security and the Fight Against Galamsey.” The theme underscores the critical responsibility of the media in ensuring national cohesion, environmental protection, and the promotion of good governance.
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, will grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker. Other distinguished guests include the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. The Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, will attend as the Title Sponsor, while the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, will host the event.
This year’s awards ceremony will highlight outstanding Ghanaian journalists and media institutions whose works have demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and impact in promoting peace, national security, and environmental awareness, particularly in the ongoing fight against illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.
The program will be broadcast live on GBC News, GTV, and other major media platforms, offering nationwide coverage of the prestigious celebration of media excellence.
