Chief, elders and people of Azulenloanu climax Kundum Festival.

The Chief, elders and people of Azulenloanu, a fishing and farming community in the Ellembelle District, have climaxed their annual Kundum festival with a call on the government to execute developmental projects in the town.

According to Nana Addo Nreda VI, Chief of Azulenloanu, though the government had brought some development such as asphaltic overlay, toilet facilities, market square and electrification projects to the town in the past, it still lagged behind development in other social amenities.

Nana Addo Nreda VI was speaking to Ghana News Agency in an interview on the sidelines at the climax of the annual Kundum festival at Azulenloanu in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The three-day festival showcased the rich cultural heritage, tradition and history of the people of Nzema and served as an occasion to foster peace and unity among people in the area.

The traditional ruler called on his subjects to bury their differences and rally behind him to fight for the development of the town.

Nana Addo Nreda VI reiterated the need for the government to turn her attention to renovate the Azulenloanu Basic School which was grinding towards deterioration.

He said the deteriorating nature of the school had forced many parents in the town to withdraw their children to attend schools in nearby towns.

Nana Addo Nreda VI also mentioned acute water shortage as another problem confronting the town.

He appealed to the District Assembly and for that matter, the government to respond to the perennial water supply problem which continued to affect the lives of people in the area. Nana Addo Nreda VI also appealed to the government to offer job opportunities to indigenes of the town especially the youth who were jobless to mitigate their economic burden.
