Majority Leader Mahama Ayarigya says entire economy is priority

The Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Mahama Ayarigya has noted that, every sector of the economy in terms of developing the country deserves equal attention.
The Majority Leader who is also the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central indicated that, Parliament uses its Committee System to check the work of the Executive and its agencies.
He was of the view that, for Parliament to successfully exercise its oversight duties, all Committees are required to submit reports on their activities for further actions to be taken. He made this known during a media engagement in Parliament.
Addressing the media, the leadership answered questions on the availability of Members of Parliament in the Chamber, transparency and oversight role of Parliament, capping of supreme court judges, amendments of some articles in the constitution, and submission of Bills and Government business among others.
On the issue of climate change, Hon. Mahama Ayariga indicated that, the Government has shown seriousness in tackling climate change by appointing Mr. Issifu Seidu as a Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability. He added that, he has already reviewed some policies on climate change in other countries intended to help confront some of the climate challenges.
For her part, the Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Patricia Appiagyei stated that, the actions of the Minority Caucus regarding the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo were not to disrupt government business but to ensure that democracy is not jeopardized.
