Commemorating the 50th anniversary celebrations of ECOWAS, the Resident Representative Office in Liberia successfully hosted a dynamic two-day event on the 23rd and 24th of May, 2025 bringing together Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Diplomatic corps, Government officials, banking and financial institutions, and distinguished dignitaries for a transformative discussion on economic empowerment and regional collaboration. The event was in collaboration with WAHO, AMI, Ecobank Liberia Ltd, and the “Made in Liberia Forum”, with the presence of the Liberia National Red Cross Society.
The event featured an engaging panel discussion and MSME clinic, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and strengthening business capacities within Liberia. Participants had the opportunity to engage with experts, share experiences, and explore avenues for growth within the ECOWAS framework. Participating banking and financial institutions; Ecobank, Access Bank, GT Bank, International Bank, and the Liberia Bank for Development, provided insightful opportunities including access to finance for women and youth in the MSMEs category.
The ECOWAS Ambassador reaffirmed ECOWAS’ commitment to supporting MSMEs as the building blocks of regional trade integration and enhancing economic development in Liberia. Her remarks emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and sustainable business initiatives in driving progress. Her inspiring message focused on youth entrepreneurship as a key to socio economic development.
In collaboration with the Made in Liberia Forum, the event also featured the “Made in Liberia Fair Extravaganza”, showcasing over 100 vendors who displayed locally produced goods and services. This vibrant exhibition celebrated the ingenuity of Liberian entrepreneurs and underscored the significance of promoting homegrown businesses on a broader platform. The occasion was also graced by the Crusaders for Peace providing entertainment and celebrating ECOWAS at 50.
