Ghanaian highlife musician Dada Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD, has passed away. His manager, King Pee, confirmed that Dada KD fell ill on Friday, May 16, 2025, and was rushed to Gbawe SDA Hospital, where he died that evening .  
Dada KD was renowned for his soulful love songs and was a prominent figure in Ghana’s highlife music scene. He began his musical journey at the age of seven and, by fifteen, was already performing as a church instrumentalist . His contributions to music earned him accolades, including the Best Male Vocal Artist award at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards UK .  
In recent years, Dada KD openly expressed his frustrations with the Ghanaian music industry’s challenges, particularly concerning inadequate royalties and the financial hardships faced by artists . He also decided to distance himself from political discussions, citing a lack of enthusiasm and interest .  
Dada KD’s passing is a significant loss to the Ghanaian music community, and he will be remembered for his contributions to highlife music and his advocacy for artists’ welfare.
