Pope Francis’ papal apartment sealed

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra have sealed the doors of the papal apartment in the Apostolic Palace and the door to the apartment of the Casa Santa Marta, where the late Pope Francis live.

 

Pope Francis’ death was announced on Easter Monday. The rite of the certification of death and placement in the coffin took place on Monday evening at 8:00 PM, in the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta.

Nine days of official mourning is expected to be announced. The Pope would be buried four to six days after his passing. His body would lie in state at St Peter’s Basilica for mourners to pay their respects.
