Ghana recorded a steady growth in both international and domestic tourism in 2025, with international tourist arrivals rising to 1,306,962, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has disclosed.

The figure represents an increase from the 1,288,804 international arrivals recorded in 2024, reflecting continued recovery and growing interest in Ghana as a tourism destination.

The Minister made the disclosure as part of the Government Accountability Series, highlighting developments and performance in the tourism, culture and creative arts sector.

Domestic tourism also recorded significant growth during the period. Domestic visits increased from 1.68 million in 2024 to 1.79 million in 2025, representing a 7 percent increase.

According to the Minister, the growth in tourist arrivals translated into substantial economic value, with the sector generating an estimated US$4.34 billion in total revenue from tourist arrivals in 2025.

The figures underscore the increasing contribution of tourism to Ghana’s economy, while highlighting the importance of strengthening domestic tourism alongside efforts to attract more international visitors.

The growth also presents opportunities for job creation, local enterprise development and increased income for communities that depend on tourism-related activities, including hospitality, transportation, creative industries, handicrafts and cultural attractions.

The government is expected to continue focusing on improving tourism infrastructure, promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and destinations, and creating an enabling environment for greater private-sector participation in the sector.

The latest figures reinforce the government’s ambition to position tourism not only as a cultural and recreational sector but also as a significant driver of economic growth, employment and sustainable development.
