The discussions also focused on the importance of investing in young people and creating stronger pathways for participation in science and technology, particularly for women and girls.

A key area of discussion was the application of nuclear science and technology in healthcare, including opportunities to strengthen Ghana’s capacity for cancer detection and treatment through radiotherapy and related technologies.

The engagement comes amid broader efforts to strengthen international scientific collaboration. Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings was also among science ministers and senior officials who visited the European Southern Observatory (ESO) headquarters in Garching, Germany, on September 29, where participants explored international cooperation and investment in world-class research infrastructure. The Ghana-Germany engagement underscores the potential for partnerships that connect research, innovation, human capital development and healthcare, while opening greater opportunities for the next generation of Ghanaian scientists and innovators.
